Discovery
The SQL Virtual Machine is an Azure resource associated with a Virtual Machine where SQL is installed. Both the SQL Virtual Machine and the Virtual Machine share a one-to-one mapping between them.

 Appranix now discovers all SQL Virtual Machines and their associated Virtual Machine databases under the Appranix Cloud Connection.


Protection
The SQL Virtual Machine is synchronised into Cloud Assembly for protection once the Virtual Machine's resource group is added to the assembly. This is config-based protection only, so no data protection and replication are required.


Recovery
Resource group-based recovery is supported for the SQL Virtual Machine within the same region and across regions.

The SQL Virtual Machine will be recovered after the Virtual Machine. The deployment waits for the SQL Virtual Machine agent to be up and retrieve the information after the bootup. This process may take a few minutes to complete.


Note:
* For a successful recovery, the SQL Virtual Machine and its Virtual Machine must be present in the same resource group.

* Currently, only license-based information and directory-based information are protected and recovered. Other information, such as automated backup and Key Vault information, will be supported soon.
